Old Enough?

I had an "Aha!" moment the other day and I wanted to share it. Somebody I know made the comment that ##### was "old enough to know better".
It occurred to me that in reality, age has absolutely nothing to do with it and that is a really stupid thing that we say. We have to learn by experience...and if we never make mistakes, or get told the harsh truth about our behavior being wrong, then we never "know better". I remember being younger and how crushed I was when someone pointed out to me that what I was doing was inappropriate. When you are ignorant or naive, no matter what age you are...it's painful to learn the truth. However...that is what makes us grow, learn and become better people who "know better".
It's hard to be the "bad guy" and tell folks that they need to stop certain behaviors...and perhaps it isn't even your job to do it, but if you don't...who will? As good parents, we have no problem telling our kids what is right or wrong:) Maybe the problem is that some people don't HAVE good parents. I guess that's where we come in.
What do you think?
